The mathematics department is implementing standards-based grading. The purpose of standards-based grading for Hillside mathematics is to provide clarity to all stakeholders by illuminating individual student strengths and specific needs in the reporting categories of Community, Learning Process, and Academic Mastery. The mathematics department will measure student mastery with course-based rubrics. Grades will be reported by level of achievement: Exemplary, Proficient, Approaching, and Beginning for each of the reporting categories.
Students will provide evidence of learning for each of the reporting categories. They will have multiple opportunities to show mastery of the learning goals. Below are examples of types of evidence that could show students’ mastery in each of the learning categories.
